At Pontarius we strongly believe that sustainable development is based on the utilization of balanced strategies. This means taking a holistic approach to present and future challenges through the integration of economic growth, social equity and environmental management. In the end, sustainability is about understanding and balancing the visions, goals and needs of all stakeholders, with the balance between creativity and structure being critical to success. This balance between creativity and structure is an ongoing management objective that requires flexibility depending the various stages of a particular development initiative.
Pontarius mission is responsible behavior in society so that our sustainable development complies with the interests and requirements of the wider community relating to social development and environmental protection.
Pontarius adhere to the UN Global Compact whereby the company has committed itself to 10 principles.
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
Médecins Sans Frontières is a humanitarian organisation dedicated to saving lives and alleviating suffering wherever they are most needed. MSF offers assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. During the course of one year, Médecins Sans Frontières dispatches in the region of 2,500 field workers to approximately 70 countries where they work with 30,000 locally employed staff. In 1999, Médecins Sans Frontières was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Pontarius supports a children’s hospital in Cambodia

”In 1996 Kenro Izu founded Non-profit organization Friends Without A Border (FWAB). With the help of health care professionals, the art community, and more than 6,000 supporters worldwide, Angkor Hospital for Children opened in 1999. Since its opening, the hospital has expanded while remaining focused on providing quality health care in Cambodia. From opening an Operating Theater in 2002, to being able to provide specialist heart surgery in 2008, AHC has achieved many milestones. Our Satellite Clinic which opened in 2010, further broadened our outreach and in 2011 we marked our millionth Outpatient treatment.”
